Wood and charcoal barbecue

Wood and charcoal barbecue

Your barbecue well maintained for the winter!

Discover our tips and tricks for keeping your barbecue clean and dry during the winter season.

Whether they're made of brick, reconstituted stone, or steel, wood-burning barbecues require constant maintenance throughout the year. So, when the cold season comes and marks the end of grilling, there are several steps you need to take to ensure your appliance is ready to use again as soon as the snow has disappeared. Follow our specialists' advice for successful wintering!

1- Clean your wood and charcoal barbecue well

Throughout the year, grease and ash have accumulated in your barbecue. Sure, you've removed the ashes after every grilling session, but a major winter cleaning is often necessary!

Cleaning the barbecue

While your wood-charcoal barbecue is still warm,

– remove the grid;
– empty it of all remaining wood, coal and ashes;
– using a brush, wipe the walls of the barbecue with soap and water.

Cleaning the grill and accessories

– Take advantage of a final cooking time to eliminate fats and last food residues;
– soak the still warm grill and the accessories in a tub of warm water mixed with washing-up liquid;
– scrub them with a special brush.
– dry everything and store the grill and accessories in a cloth, inside a cupboard for example, until the good weather.

Feel free to do this several times throughout the rest of the year.

2- Clean your portable steel barbecue well

The portable steel barbecue is very practical for moving around the garden as you wish. When winter comes, it is recommended to clean it thoroughly for perfect winter storage and thus keep it in good condition.

The Week-End steel barbecue with rotating grill is designed for easy cleaning all year round. Since the fire acts as a pyrolysis system, simply place the grill upright and clean it with a special barbecue brush.

When winter comes, it is possible to dismantle the grid by unscrewing it.

Cleaning the barbecue

– Remove the grid by unscrewing it;
– empty the barbecue of all leftover wood, coal and ash;
– using a non-abrasive brush to avoid damaging the walls, apply soapy water to the walls of the barbecue;
– turn the barbecue over to let it dry;
– as soon as the clean grid is screwed back on, cover it with a tarpaulin and store it in a dry place, at the back of your garage or in your laundry room for example.

Cleaning the grill and accessories

– Unscrew and soak the still warm grid and accessories in a tub of warm water mixed with washing-up liquid;
– scrub them with a special brush;
– dry everything and screw the grid back on;
– keep the accessories inside, dry in a cloth.
