Frequently asked questions - FAQ - Q1

FAQ

Q: Why do we use MINERAL rock wool and not ceramic fibre blanket to insulate our BRICK wood-fired ovens?

A:

1- Insulation with ceramic fibre blanket loses its insulating capacity if it is somehow stretched and pressed with a wire mesh, and later with cement, or other roofing material. The truth is by compressing the materials it will create a "honeycomb" effect which will prevent the ceramic blanket from doing its "job" by not having the necessary insulation effect! That is why we choosw MINERAL rock wool for insulating our brick ovens.

2- Insulation other than MINERAL rock wool in wood-fired brick and cement wood-fired ovens is extremely dangerous, because if it rains or moisture passes through this insulation, it will go directly into the vault and then the humidity and fire will allow chemicals to come into contact with food. Therefore, we only use MINERAL rock wool insulation in ALL our BRICK wood-fired ovens.

If you want to acquire a BRICK wood-fired oven with thermal ceramic blanket insulation, ALWAYS ask the manufacturer if the thermal ceramic blanket has an Ecological and BIOSOLUBLE quality certification, but also Approved and certified in accordance with food safety standards: Asbestos-free (since there are ceramic blankets that contain products harmful to human health like ASBESTOS.)
